The first thing Olivia Carter heard wasn't footsteps.
It was the lock.
A heavy metallic click echoed through the frozen chamber.
Cold air spilled across the concrete floor as the massive freezer door slowly swung open.
Warehouse security officers rushed inside.
Olivia was still standing.
Her lips had turned pale.
Frost clung to her coat.
But her eyes were calm.
One officer reached for her.
"Ma'am, are you hurt?"
Olivia slowly handed him her phone.
"No."
She looked straight at the blinking security camera mounted above the entrance.
"But someone just tried to erase me."
The officer pressed play.
Ethan Brooks appeared on the screen.
He looked directly into the hallway camera before locking the freezer.
Then he smiled.
No panic.
No hesitation.
Only confidence.
Olivia whispered,
"That's Exhibit One."
